THIS IS NOT A DRILL.

Joaquin Phoenix's recently finalized deal to star as the Joker is set to begin shooting in September in New York. Todd Phillips (The Hangover, War Dogs) will direct the movie.

The budget for Phoenix’s Joker film is said to be in the $55 million range, notably lower than any other superhero movies released. The stand-alone is meant to be darker and more experimental in tone and content. With the amount of budget and production constraints there are chances that the movie could be ready for release as early as late 2019.

The studio describes it as “exploration of a man disregarded by society [that] is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.”

In case you may be wondering if the Jared Leto's Joker will be pushing through. The answer is--- YES.

Warner Bros. has a possible second Joker movie in the works and the project is currently in development.
